Large Animal

Veterinary Hospital of Centreville provides care and consultation for individual livestock and larger production herds. We offer in-house hospital visits as well as onsite farm calls for large animal services. Our veterinarian addresses most general health care, infections, metabolic, lameness, and reproductive problems of local livestock. Additionally, depending on the goal for each animal and their environmental factors, we can help owners develop the best preventative health care plan including vaccinations, deworming, nutrition, husbandry, and routine care.

We are available for onsite consultations concerning general herd health. Our doctor is happy to discuss any issues you are having with your pet or herd and help develop the best treatment for you and your livestock. Routine herd services we provide are vaccinations, parasite control, nutrition consultations, disease outbreak investigations, and reproductive management.

We offer many reproductive services for local livestock including cattle and horses. We routinely complete bull breeding soundness exams and fertility testing. We diagnose pregnancy by rectal palpation in cows and trans abdominal ultrasound in small ruminants.

Another very useful diagnostic tool that we offer at Veterinary Hospital of Centreville for large animals is ultrasound. We use an external probe that works through sound waves to scan the body’s soft tissue structures. Ultrasound is a non-invasive way to evaluate tendons, ligaments, swellings, masses, and abdominal organs. Through use of trans abdominal ultrasound we can diagnose pregnancy in small ruminants.

If you need to schedule an in-clinic visit to the hospital for your large animal, or a farm visit for your livestock, please call the office today.
